Lord Hanuman is an incarnation of Lord Shiva and is also known as Anjani Putra, Bajrangbali, Mahaveer, Pavanputra, Maruti and so on. He is considered to be the lord of strength and courage who bestows his blessings upon all those devotees who worship him faithfully. 

 

The son of Kesari (the chief of Vanaras) and Anjana (a Vanara princess), Lord Hanuman was initially named “Maruti”. He was such a great devotee of Lord Ram that his unending devotion and servitude has earned him the title of Ram Doot. 

 

It is believed that Lord Hanuman fulfills the desires of all his followers and a true prayer to him is never left unanswered. This is the reason that he is greatly worshipped by numerous people across the country.

“मनोजवं मारुततुल्य वेगम् जितेन्द्रियं बुद्धिमतां वरिष्ठं

वातात्मजं वानर युथमुख्यं श्री रामदूतं शरणं प्रपद्ये ||”

 

Meaning of Hanuman Mantra

 

Through this mantra, one praises Lord Hanuman as a dutiful messenger of Lord Rama. It literally translates as “I pray to the one whose speed is unmatchable. He is faster than the thoughts of the mind and stronger than the wind. He is the one who has gained supremacy over his senses and excels in intelligence and wisdom. He is the son of Vayu (the God of wind) and the chief of the Vanaras. I bow to the staunch devotee of Lord Rama and invoke him with my prayers.”

Hanuman Gayatri Mantra

 

Hanuman Gayatri Mantra is a different version of the famous Gayatri mantra. It praises Lord Hanuman and is said to energize your life and protect you from all dangers. 

 

In Sanskrit - “ॐ आञ्जनेयाय विद्महे वायुपुत्राय धीमहि।

         तन्नो हनुमत् प्रचोदयात्॥”

 

In English - “Om Anjaneyaya Vidmahe Vayuputraya Dhimahi। 

          Tanno Hanumat Prachodayat॥”

 

Meaning - Starting with the primeval sound “Om” the mantra means - “I pray to the progeny of Anjana and the son of the Wind God (Vayu) to sharpen my intellect and grant me wisdom and intelligence.”

 

Hanuman Beeja Mantra

This is the mantra that refers to the essence of Lord Hanuman’s dedication towards Lord Rama. Reciting this mantra pleases Lord Hanuman and he bestows his blessings on all those devotees who recite it regularly.

 

In Sanskrit - “|| ॐ ऐं भ्रीम हनुमते, श्री राम दूताय नम: ||”

 

In English - “Aum Aeem Bhreem Hanumate, Shree Ram Dootaaya Namaha.”

 

 

Meaning - “I pray to Lord Hanuman, who is the greatest devotee and the loyal envoy of Lord Shree Rama.”
